DUB INC
ATLAS
Release date: Nov. 28, 2025
With Atlas, the ninth album in their flawless discography, Dub Inc rise to the challenge of longevity by reinventing themselves without betraying their core identity. While the band's DNA remains unchanged - socially conscious lyrics delivered in their implacable flow over irresistible riddims, the band allows itself to explore new avenues. After twenty years together, the Saint-Étienne-based collective finds renewed energy, offering its audience 12 songs that are both inspired and bright.
Always striving for a better planet, Dub Inc use their words to fix a world that is no longer quite right. Beyond flags and across borders, Atlas is Dub Inc's opportunity to give it their all, and carry on the fight that must be fought by us all, citizens and denizens alike, because there is still hope. The voices of Bouchkour and Komlan loudly and clearly urge us to put aside all that divides us, in order to preserve what unites us. At the crossroads of personal trials and a world in crisis, Dub Inc succeed in addressing societal themes which are full of meaning, while remaining positive, and demonstrating an unwavering, unifying optimism.
Music-wise, Atlas displays a greater diversity than previous releases. Reggae takes on a cumbia tinge with the accordion, ventures into new oriental influences with the mandola, and sometimes leans more towards rock, featuring a powerful, stratospheric electric guitar. Some tunes have a more electronic sound, while others remain distinctly acoustic. As for guest appearances, Atlas features valuable talents such as New Caledonian artist Marcus Gad, and Grammy Award-winning Jamaican lyricist Kabaka Pyramid, a leading figure of the reggae revival. Several longtime collaborators also make appearances, including oud player Alaoua Idir and percussionist Antony Gatta. Atlas is the band's fourth album mixed by Guido Craveiro, who also produced a classy, progressive dub remix.
With the cancellation of their previous tour due to health reasons, 2024 provided the band with an opportunity for a regenerative period of introspection. In the comfort of their new studio in Saint-Étienne (Greenlab), the team took the time to reflect, experimenting with new avenues and an increasingly collaborative way of working. In the heart of a digital world fueled by artificial intelligence that pushes creativity towards uniformity and virtuality, Dub Inc continues to produce real, sincere, and spontaneous music with real instruments. In the same spirit, the album artwork is the original and very real creation of two artists from Saint-Étienne, Fabien Cornut (642) and Judith Chomel. Boosted by renewed energy, Atlas thus offers twelve new tracks to listen to on repeat and to experience live, throughout their upcoming tour.
